Dr. Ehsan opened her practice because her passion was to deliver the best possible colorectal surgical care to the residents of the Eastside. She grew up here, her extended family lives here, and her community is here. At that time, there were no women with advanced subspecialty training in colon and rectal surgery in King or Snohomish counties. She felt there was a need for someone who could bring the latest in training and expertise, but also a woman's compassion and empathy to this surgical specialty. Now, Dr. Ehsan has joined her practice with Proliance Surgical Specialists at Overlake to continue to fill that need and provide excellent colorectal surgical care to Seattle and the Eastside.

Proliance Eastside Surgical Specialists is located in Bellevue, Washington on the Overlake Hospital campus. Dr. Mitra Ehsan has been practicing colon and rectal surgery in this community for almost 20 years. She is fellowship trained and board certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
Areas of expertise:
Treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum,anus, and small bowel.
Anal surgeries including hemorrhoids, fistulas, fissures, tags, abscess drainages; and office procedures such as hemorrhoid banding
Colonoscopy including removal of polyps, biopsies, and dilation of strictures.
Laparoscopic and open abdominal surgeries, including use of the daVinci robot for minimally invasive surgeries.
Transanal endoscopic microsurgery
(TEM or TAMIS).
Mitra Ehsan, M.D., FACS, FASCRS
Dr. Ehsan was born and raised in Bellevue, Washington where her father was a physician at Overlake Hospital Medical Center. She completed both her undergraduate and medical education at the University of Washington where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She then did her residency in General Surgery at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She returned to Seattle where she did an accredited fellowship at Swedish Medical Center/Northwest Colon and Rectal Clinic.
Dedicated to helping her patients understand their disease, Dr. Ehsan encourages her patients to be active partners in their care. She regularly collaborates with other physicians and surgeons in the region to treat complex oncology (cancer) cases and pelvic floor reconstruction. She is committed to providing you with high-quality, cutting edge care in an environment of compassion and understanding.
Dr. Ehsan opened the Overlake Colon and Rectal Clinic in 2002 (currently, Proliance Surgical Specialist at Overlake). In addition to her surgical practice, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, hiking, camping, skiing, fishing, and attending the opera. She is also an avid gardener and birder.
Dr. Ehsan is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery. In addition, she is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
